Default Update with our Timing Cover and double rollers

We got our hands on a double roller set up, a Rollmaster timing chain. We wanted to see how it would work with our new 2 piece timing cover and high volume oil pump.

Well after modify a cover and making largers shims to make clear everything. We got it to fit. Buttoned it all up. Now on to a cam swap thats where it went downhill.

We started to pull the cam gear off the motor. It would not come off. It seems something was interfering with it. The double roller has a large needle bearing on the back of the sprocket. When you slide it down to make some slack for the chain, it hits the lower cam plate bolt. So the gear wont come out with just the top cover off.

We tried but its a no go with the Roll Master Double roller. If there is another double roller that does not have a large bearing on the back, we can get it to work.

Im not a big on the double rollers in the first place.
Here is a pic to show how easy it is to get the cam out.

Remember we are running a special till the end of the year. $550.00 for both the pump and cover.
Any questions feel free to call us.

It wont work due to the design of the large roller bearing on the sprocket. Just like PDD pointed out, you have to pull the oil pump off just to get the roller off. Im not a fan of the double rollers in the first place. Never heard anyone snapping a single roller chain.

Snapping isn't the issue, it's chain stretch. The dbl roller chain will take punnishment for much longer intervles before stretching. If you're changing them out frequently such as with a lot'o'punnishment/race-only engine, I wouldn't worry about going dbl roller. But, for the purpose behind the 2pc cover (so it isn't necessary to crack into the whole front of the engine), I'd certainly recommend one. As you stated before, if the user has a set w/o the large bearing, it could work. That just rules out that specific gear/chain set. No big deal. Now start testing others!!!
