well technically, they are LS1 family heads. those are 5.3 or 4.8 heads. very good combustion chambers, but smaller valves. you can have the factory seats cut to fit an LS1 sized 2.00" valve though ;D

Are they 4.8/5.3 heads? I thought 806 was the casting number for 97-98 LS1 heads?

Mortec.com shows them as 97-99 LS1 heads but they also dont have alot of LS1 stuff up on that site. i saw a set of these on a junkyard 5.3 about a week ago, so thats where i drew the conclusion from. but then again, i may have stuck my foot in my mouth.

Blu,

do these have centerbolt valve covers or perimiter style?

according to GMHTP's head buyers guide in the 5/03 issue, there r no '806' castings... '706' is the 4.8/5.3 head... altho i do notice they have the same number listed for 97-98, and 98-99, while they say they r different, because of the valvecover bolts...

Just checked mine and i have a 98. The driver side shows 806 or 306, one or the other. At the front of the passenger side head shows a smooth machined piece of metal. I bought the car used so don't know if the owner put truck heads on or not, but hopefully its the LS1's .

Casting #806 belongs to early 5.7l engines. They will have perimeter valve cover bolts. Casting #'s 706 & 862 are 4.8l and 5.3l heads. They like the later 5.7l heads will have center bolt valve covers.

Good luck,
