Default help on choosing a cam for a daily driver

I know from doing many searches that spring life is dependant upon alot of things...cam size...driving habits...blah blah blah.....I need a cam and a set of springs that after install and tune I won't have to worry about (if there is such a thing)....I've heard through the grape vine that you need to check/replace the springs every 15k...is that if you bring it to the track or for normal use...I don't want to make the wrong decision...the highest it will be reved out to would probably be 5500...i just want something fun for the street not the strip...help me out peoples...

Keep it under .570 lift and the springs will last a lot longer. Also bump up the LSA to 114 or higher for nice idle.

JRP with that setup I won't have to change out the springs every 15k?

hmm, i didnt even notice that. i agree. better off with just stock cam and full bolt ons.

mph746 - 15k is a bit of an exageration or limited to the utmost big cams on cars that spend every weekend at the track. hell, back in the day guys running B1/T1, small comp grinds (XE) were getting 40k miles on a set of 918's. with a good set of duals with plenty of seat and open pressure and a mild lobe cam (i.e tr224) you can get plenty of life out of them.

eh.... do some searches on my opinion of the HC. if you feel it fits your needs then by all means go for it.

I would go tr224 on 114 with 918's over a hot cam!!! The hotcam works.....but you can pick a better cam....then the hotcam. Any thing with a 210-224 duration and mild lift .540-575 lift will be fine on 918's.....but duals will give alittle more insurance.
