Default 6.0l combos

Has anybody built a stock stroke 4030 bore iron block motor? This is what i'm thinking about doing with stage 2 gtp's and a big nitrous cam.I dont want to spend the money for a a stroker crank and a sleeved block is 2300 bucks. So i was thinking this would be a good "budget" combo that should make good power.I think i could be in to the shortblock for about 26 to 2800 bucks and it would be strong enough to take a 200 hit of nitrous.Plus i would gain about 25 c.i.

This is what I'm doing except I'm doing a D1SC with a small shot of nitrous.

I found a used 6.0 block and heads for $400 on ebay. Here's another one:

This is the same guy I bought mine through and everything is fine. The only thing is you can't use the 99-00 crank unless you machine it down in the back or you can install an 01-02 6.0 crank. I plan on selling the heads for $100 (or more) on ebay. You can buy new 6.0 blocks through GM for $650 but you still need a crank. A used 01+ GM 6.0 crank shouldn't go for that much.

Wow looks like that longblock in the Ebay link was dipped in saltwater I'd be worried about about that crank.

I have a 4.060 x 4.075 motor right now, but I am planning to build a 4.030 x 3.622 boost motor.

Let me say that the iron block will add at least 75 lbs to the car. So to me the iron block is the way to go for a forced induction motor or a nitrous motor. The deck will be more rigid and give the user a little more wiggle room when it comes to detonation.

I plan to run 4.030 bore Diamond pistons and some sort of budget-minded connecting rod.

Would you guys like me to put together a list of what this block will include and the prices?

I plan to run 12-16 lbs of boost through this motor.

Thats a good idea John.I was thinking of the eagle rods.I have seen them put up with some major abuse in a small block ford.I know that they are not as good as lunati or manley but for what im doing i think they will be fine with nitrous(wish i could have a turbo).I know someone with a small block ford with a turbo that runs mid 8s with a eagle 331 kit and it has been together for some time.

Prices would be cool <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Yeah, I agree about that engine on ebay. Mine looks a little better:

After boring and a line bore, they usually clean up okay. As long as there's no cracks or major damage. My shipping was $150 and so that block from GM sounds more appealing. I will be purchasing a used 01 crank from somone here for $100. I also read from ARE that the 6.0 cranks are balancd different than the 5.7 cranks.

Please post some prices John. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
