quick cam question
im beginning to look around to get a new cam... im looking for a cam that will be on the calm side. i dont want to have to replace valve springs every 10 or 15 thousand miles... and this car is a daily driver so it needs to be very streetable. but i want more than a zo6 cam. i also want a semi choppy idle. again nothing too crazy. if someone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Lots of options, do a search and you'll see a ton of posts on this very subject.
I went with the TR220 - nice power and good driveability but it is a sharp ramp, so springs will be an issue. The comp extreme energy ramp and mild lift is about as radical as you will want to go, although there are limits to the number of miles you are going to get with high performance springs.

Thunder Racing 224 cam sounds just what you are looking for. But... I'm partial to Futural Motors cams. Give Allan a call, I'm sure he can hook you up nicely. Good Luck.
i was looking for the same thing when i got a COMP 222/224 .566/.568 114
and it was EXACTLY what i wanted, and more..... after a good tune
there is NO bucking NO flat spots NO stalling.... it drives awsome!
and the 114 lopes pretty good.... sounds MEAN through a cut-out....
makes awsome power... pulls hardest at 3K and redline comes very FAST!
and the lift isnt to much to be real hard on springs..... though you still want some good ones...
its a great cam, and you wont be disapointed.... at least i wasent...

Totally agree!! It all depends on your driving manners
I love to drive my car fast, and red line is every days bread
So, springs swap will come really soon
You can tell when when a spring is not anymore doing its job, and it is when the power at top-end starts to feel lazzy
so how often would i have to change springs with the 224 stated above?
i used dual comp springs.....
gave them 8-10 heat cycles before hitting red-line.....
and wait until up to full temp before going above 3K.....
and i only put 2-3K miles a year..... so mine should last... A LONG TIME>>>>>
like stated, call one of the sponsors. There are a lot of good sponsors here that can place you with the exact cam for your needs. TR has great customer service and is a good option IMO. I've also heard plenty of good things about FMS and TSP. Since those are their cams, they can help you on any questions you have
