Default 5.3?

I have an 02 Silverado with a 5.3 Vortec and read somewhere that if I bored my cylinders from 3.780 to 3.900 that my block would be basically idendical to the LS1. That seems an awful lot of material to pull out of my cylinders without sleeving it. Is it possible to take .120 out of my cylinders without sleeving it?

Are there any useful LS1 Mods that will work on my engine right now to increase my low end torque.

Thanks

There's a fella I talk to that's making 360 to the wheels w/ a head/cam combo 5.3

that with some suspension work/big stall and you could cut a good e.t. without a power adder or going with more cubes.

There's a guy in the truck performance, he took his 5.3L block .125 over + 4" crank to make 383, has no problems. Iron block no sleeve, just straight bore!

You can do it, just costs about the same as a 6.0L stroker

Do you know the guys name in the truck section? That amazing I've never heard of a .125 bore on a stock block.

I think my wife would divorce me if I ever bought another blower, I've had one and been down that road but trying to explain a bad tune to her is impossible, all she sees is a melted piston and lots of $$.

If I did go with another blower I would go with a whipple for my Impala and a Kenne Bell for the Silverado.

I am interested in this myself. What kind of gains where acheived by doing all that machine work? And what kinda of compression ratio are we taliking about?
