bolt holes behind oil pump?

bolt holes behind oil pump? there is 2 bolt holes behind the oil pump. im not sure if a cover or something else needs to go there. the machine shop pointed it out to me. should i worry about it?

Re: bolt holes behind oil pump? ??? I just replaced my oil pump and don't remember any bolt holes or plates/covers behind it. There are 2 bolts on each side of the pump and the oil passage hole on the drivers side

At one point in time, GM was going to install these in the LS1. Never happened.
Some year cars have no holes. Some have holes with no threads, and some have threaded holes. BTW, my 98 has threaded holes.
If you are not installing a chain damper, don't even worry about those holes. Below is a pic of the damper installed (pump removed)
I don't know of anyone using this damper.

Re: bolt holes behind oil pump? that damper looks to be made of nylon, it seems like a good idea but after a while small shards shaved off by a lose timing chain dont sound good, maybeim just thinking to much <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />
