...And if you have BIG money, people are making 460+ RWHP with the AFR 205's and LSX intake...

I gained almost 45 rwhp with the addition of my Patriot 5.3 heads. At the time I had a small 218/222 cam in it.

Have you had any problems with those heads? Those are some good numbers. Nice car, btw.

Im just wondering if its worth it spending $1500+shipping, for "maybe" 40 rwhp. Maybe I sound foolish, I dont know. Any opinions?

Very nicely put.

My 224 cam, small by todays standards, ran SAE 413.2/383 with stage 2 heads. No way a 224 cam with a stock TB and 4.10s would push the wheels to these numbers.

I am shooting for a TNT wet kit by this time next year though

Thanks for the compliment. I've put over 1K on the heads. No problems so far. The car pulls like a frieght train. The TSP 231/237 cam goes with these heads well.

We have all asked that question once or twice before.
Think of heads as a long term investment. Think about where you want to be, power wise, in a year and buy heads for that task.

eg. maybe go blower/turbo later on...get 6.0litre heads now.
eg. go bigger cubes later on...get a serious set of big port/big valve heads now.

To eliminate "maybe," you need to get a new cam that is matched to the heads that you buy.

Cylinder heads will make or break your combination. If you don't have good cylinder heads you'll never make good power. It's just that simple.

I say it's worth getting heads, just get the right ones that go best with your cam and get a good tune.

You can get the heads like Mike98WS6 has on his car for only $1,295.00 with MLS head gaskets and new OE head bolts.

My opinion doesn't mean squat, really. Your opinion is what counts. Do you want to spend $1500+shipping for 40 rwhp? Or would you rather look for a power adder with better bang for the buck?

When it comes down to it, you can add lots of things that will increase your power. A cam will. Heads will. Both will give even more. But if you look at it from an HP/$ perspective, the cam is a better deal than the heads. Headers are probably better than the cam. You make your list and keep buying the next best value off the list until you either run out of money or go fast enough (though in my experience that never happens - you always run out of money first

short of n2o or a blower according to your sig there isnt much else to bolt on that will net you a 30-50rwhp gain besides heads.
