I've gotta see pictures of this. I've never heard of anything like that happening. I hope all is not lost.

Kinda hard to suck or drop even a broken rod into the lower end. There are plastic trays that hold the lifters and most likely the pieces are in there. Down side is that the best bet is to remove the heads to be sure to get everything out.
TheBlur, yes it is almost that easy. You do need to rotate the engine over two times or so and re-torque the rocker bolts but that is about it.
Check out www.ls1howto.com for some really awesome procedures and pics.

s10v8 when you remove the rockers and replace the pushrods, roll them on a flat surface to check for straightness, replace them with new hardened ones, and torque the ROCKERS to 22ft lbs, be sure to put locktite on these bolts as welll
as far as plug gap, if your all motor no spray put NGK TR55's at .050 ish
if you are spraying NGK TR6s at .035 ish
I was just wondering if the bolts holding the rockers down have to be relpaced when doing this job. I know on some GM engines that they are torque to yield bolts and can only be used once. (or so they say)

That cool! The ones on my Impala SS are one time use only but I had an 02 Stang GT thats head bolt were TTY but I used them again and it worked out fine and still is. It's N/A, mostly stock though, so I didn't care. If I was going to mod the **** out of it I probably would have spent the $60 for new bolts just to be safe.
