Do you think this would have happened if our pistons were forged and not cast?
Lets write a letter to GM and ask that they make this change in the Gen six Vette... ..after all, they will be using the same low tech motor ...the least they could do is update the pistons for 1960's technology!
My #3 looks kinda brown...

Is that burnt?

For some reason the set screw vibrated out and caused the throttle to hang WOT. It took me awhile to figure this out so it happened 4 or 5 times. Easy fix I just put some loctite on the screw - no problem since.

Had a problem with my throttle sticking (WOT) thats is why the pistons are knicked I was pretty sure I would find that (hit the rev limiter [7000]4 or 5 times before I figured the problem out.

Is your fuel system up to task? From the pic it looks like you had some serious detonation, and that melted gap is just ugly! Did you have your knock sensor tweaked too much?? Im kind of a noob with the LS1. But I have friends running lots of nitrous, and never have a problem like that. I agree the GM needs to get a clue and put forged pistons in everything V-8.
<strong> Well, after seeing that pic I wont be able to sleep without a nightlight.

The air/fuel spiked to about 15 then flattened out. So it still is going a little lean but not bad. I drove the car at least 40 miles and made 4 N/A passes at the track when this happened. Either the piston was weak from an earlier lean condition or I have a new fuel problem (injector, pump, etc).
