Default Thinking of changing oils, looking for advise

I have been running Mobil 1 5-30. Read some good stuff about the German made Castrol Syntech 0-30.What do ya think?

Engine has 6,000 miles on it. Putting down 429rwhp with heads and 224-581-112 cam and other bolt-ons.

The Mobil 1 0 - 40 is supposed to be better for our engines. The 5-30 is at the bottom of the 30 w scale. Do a search for username Patman. He's the resident guru.

German Castrol (GC) is what I use. The used oil analysis (UOA) was excellent. Go for it.

Mobil 1 0w-40 here. I used to use Mobil 1 5w-30. Once I changed to 0w-40 my oil pressure increased for the better.

The reason your oil presure is up is because you are putting a thicker oil thought the pump so it is harder to move. Not because it is better than 5w-30.

I like 5w30 Mobil 1 during the winter and 10w-30 in the summer here in TX.

P.S. this has been talked about before. Us the search button.

I did. Searched for Castrol and came up with mostly threads about brake fluid. Just trying to get some real time feedback. I'm done now though.

Unhappy

I can not find anyone around here that has the German made Castrol Syntech 0-30. I guess I could order it on-line but shipping would be .

I have heard some Auto Zones around here have it. I have never looked for it though. I'm gonna stick with Mobil 0w-40.

German Castrol 0w30 is definitely the number one choice for the LS1. If you can't find it, the Mobil 1 0w40 or 5w40 are excellent choices, so is Amsoil or Redline. Oil analysis is one of the best ways to determine if you've chosen the right oil for your combo though.
