Default Pic of clearanced #8 piston?

Anyone have a pic of piston clearanced for the reluctor wheel? I ask because looking at my Diamonds (none were clearanced grrr), it looks to me that there would be so little material left between the wrist pin and the bottom of the piston that it could easily fail. Right now, the space between the wrist pin and piston bottom is 1/8 inch. I figure half of that needs to be grinded from what I saw during a test fitting. I need to see a pic, or get some solid reassurance that it will be fine before I take a loss and order some JE's.

Default reluctor wheel clearance

The side of the piston needs to be machined slightly to clear. I have attached a photo showing a blued piston where the reluctor was hitting. I machined a semi circular cut out about .060" deep as I recall. That took care of the problem. Engine has been running for almost a year now.

I can send you some pics of how Joe Prince did mine. Would that help? This way you wont actually have to clearence it, just let it do its own clearencing. 6000 rpms will do wonders to a piston hitting the reluctor wheel. Clears that problem right up.

Well, I went ahead and did it. In the pic Steve posted, it looks like only the outer reluctor wheel was hitting. On mine, both wheels were hitting. The inner was smacking the bottom of the piston. The amount I grinded was the bare minimum to clear it. Tell me what yall think: (sorry, I don't know how to resize the pic)

Thanks! I need to figure out how to do that. When I try the message says file is too large.

Did you talk to Diamond? They would have sent you one that was clearanced. All of their stuff comes with the #8 clearanced. Since you didn't have one, they made the mistake and i am sure they woud have overnighted you another.

I talked to Diamond, and apparantly I would have to buy a piston because the shop I got the set from (JPR) is out of business. So it didn't hurt to grind this one. And alot of members have said that the piston Diamond clearanced still needed to be grinded anyway. Does it look like too much is removed for it to be safe?

I changed the size and quality of the picture with photoshop so it would be small enough.

No, I'm going to go over it just a hair more with a sanding wheel on the dremel before I get it all balanced. You could hardly fit a strand of hair between the piston and reluctor right now.
