I'm toying with the idea of getting these rockers but I don't know if they'll work with my setup(GTP stage 2 heads w/dual valvesprings from Thunder Racing).

Does anyone know if these rockers will clear dual-valvesprings?

So the real key is figuring how how much more lift you're going to get from these rockers. If somebody is on the edge of piston to valve clearance these things may push it over the edge. From what I remember from yellaterra's post a while back, you'll get another 20-25thousanths lift even if you go with the 1.7 ratio rockers.

Just be careful out there.

I may have to get a set of these too one day. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I sure hope I don't have clearance problems...I ordered mine (1.7) today. I'll check 'em! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

I just recieved my rockers a day early and let me tell you they are top notch. The rockers are nice and light as well as thick. I dont see many issues with them flexing. The bearing design is top notch and everything seems to be made to my expectations.

If I remember correctly yella terra said that with higher lift cams flex occured with the stock rockers resulting in less valve opening. So with these rockers they saw a more accurate transfer of the lobe lift to valve lift (truer liftvalue).Cheers.

We will find out soon how they work with my 232/238 .595/.605 111 lsa cam. I think they will be a nice compliment to my forged 347cid motor.

Binks, the point is, with the new rockers you're going to have more lift than you already do. Whether you want to look at it as the yellas giving more, or the stock ones giving less, it doesn't matter. And when people say cam blah blah blah has no clearance issues, that is almost always with the stock flexing rockers so in reality, we're all running .540'ish lift cams instead of .560'ish lift cams like we thought we were (assuming yella terra's testing was accurate). With the new rockers, your .540 (advertised as a .560) is now a .560. Some of the guys with .590 lift cams were probably only getting .565 of that lift with a stock rocker so 25 thousanths more might just push them over the edge. It of course all depends on duration and timing of the lobes, but you get the general idea of what I'm saying.

jmx, excellent info. With a big cam you would need to recheck P/V if going over to the Yella Terras. You could gain at least 20 thousanths lift with these rockers.

Conceivably though, the stiffness could be creating far more of a dynamic change in the valvetrain than the static change you can check with a p/v test. The valvetrain does some amazing "flexing" and oscillating at various RPMs, and that flex can be in the pushrod or the rocker arm. Stiffen one up and you change the way the cam lobe "hits" the valve. That wouldnt be seen on a slow P/V test. You need either a Spintron or alot of experience to assess that. What Im worried about it that the area under the upramp of the cam is going to be greater, and that is where some contact may occurr at higher rpms. In some cases, the lowest p/v clearance is not at the peak lift of the cam. And I dont think the peak lift is where these rockers are making a difference. One way or the other, stiff rockers, big hard cams, and stock pistons are going to have to meet a test at 6800-7000 rpm before we know for sure

For what it's worth, I finished my motor today, I've got Comp R lifters, hardened pushrods, Comp 987 double springs, and Yella Terra 1.7:1 rockers (TR224 cam). There's VERY little valve-train noise! not much more than there was stock, so not sure how it would have sounded with stockers but my valve-train is pretty damn quiet w/these yella Terras .. very glad I bought them now

Now it's time to Dyno and get to the track

With a sewing machine sounding motor, it may well work out that the YellaTerra's are worth the money just to quiet the valvetrain. Knocksensor or not. In fact Ive heard this enough now that I think Im gonna order a set.

I talked to one guy about the rockers and he said the quality was top notch. He said that he dynoed a A4 and picked up about 10rwhp from 3200-redline with only that mod. They swapped them out on the dyno. Wonder what they would do on a forged motor with stiff springs where the stock rockers might be flexing.
Phillip

Phil, here's a link to some pictures...little chance of flex!

Yella Terra's in this link

Thats a nice looking motor, but tell me... Was that a motorized engine stand?!?!?! That by far is the craziest **** Ive ever seen!!!!

My engine stand is ******. You can rotate the engine with your little finger and never get tired. Every shop or engine builder that does more than a few motors per year should have one. When assembling and checking, this stand makes the job fun.
