Question LS6 / LS1 Valve Spring Questions

Hey!

I dont own a LS1 or a LS6, but a L67 (blown grand prix). I'm looking to do rockers on my heads and had a few questions about the LS6 / LS1 Springs since they happen to be a perfect match for my L67.

GM Part # 12586484
That is a LS6 Spring with 90lbs at 1.8" install height. Coil bind height is 1.190" and outside diameter is 1.290"/1.060" and inside diameter is .885"/.656" And the spring is in a beehive shape correct?

What are the differnces between a factory LS1 and a factory LS6 spring? Differnt material it is made out of ? But are the diameters of the LS1 and LS6 valve spring the same?

Will Crane Cams Retainers (#144832) work with factory LS1/LS6 GM springs?

Thanks for all the help!

not sure on the crane cams retainers. look in the classified sections for some used springs and retainers. stock retaining clips are fine with retainers and comp 918 springs.that would be my suggestion if you want to save money.

ls6 use different material springs, are wound tighter, and more oval in shape. 02 springs have the same seat pressure but more open; 259 vs 294. the crane retainers wont work. you'll need gm steel retainers or the tit. ones made for comp 918's.

with the 294

do you mean "Installed load is 90 pounds at 1.800", 115 pounds at 1.720", and 300 pounds at 1.230"."

Also what are the differnces between

GM # 12586484 and GM # 12565313

an ls1 spring is

76lbs @ 1.800
220lbs @ 1.320

an 01 ls6 spring is

90lbs @ 1.800
260lbs @ 1.320

an 02 ls6 spring is

90lbs @ 1.800
294lbs @ 1.320

thats the data from GM i have anyway. never been good at part #'s as gm changes them all the time. i know 01 springs are blue and i believe 02's are yellow or green.
