Question Y1 Cam power ratings

Anyone know what the Y1 cam would produce on an otherwise stock car? Ex. stock heads, manifolds, displacement? Just basically cam alone numbers. Thanx in advance.

Not off hand. I posted a "cam only" thead for that cam, but didn't get any responses.

BUT, you should consider spending money on the other areas of the motor first. Power is made by a combination of parts, not just 1 part hence most cam dyno graphs and other posting are with cars and most bolt-ons.(exception being Nitrous). A good Stall will help alot towards performance in a stright line and should be one of the 1st big mods you do. Then should come exhaust.

don't go for the big nasty if you're not willing to also get the supporting mods you'll need to make it work. you'll definately need headers and a fat stall for that cam. i'm thinking on an otherwise stock car, it would probably do 370ish, but get smoked by a bolt on car with a stall and gears.

ya u should get headers at least before going with a cam. i know alot of people running around with big cams and no stalls.

i'd say ~20rwhp, w/o the supporting bolt ons you wont gain ****. kickass is right, even with a big cam you'll still get smoked by a bolt on stalled car.

stalls work wonders for automatics...and bolt-ons will prolly double the power output of that cam...plus the added power of the bolt-ons

Intake meaning manifold and throttle body? There's a lid and filter on it already. Also wanna throw a 150 shot on it. That will hold me over till I get a pair of stage 2 heads. I wanna get the cam before the heads though.

I would have had the stall installed sooner but the snow has arrived, I'll wait till it has dissipated before putting the stall in.

just depends, every cam will spec out a bit different; smaller duration here, larger lift there. the spec's on websites are what it should be, not exactly what you'll get. my old tr230 spec'd out to 230.8/225.1 .577/.568 110.5. my custom cam spec'd out about ~240/238 .583/.585 111.7 when advertised its 238/236 .586/.589 112
