Default Took heads off car, need advice on possible problem...

When looking at valves, the threaded hole where the spark plug goes seems "split" on some of the cylinders. These are MTI stage IIR LS1 heads with 2.055/1.60 valves. I have pics but no way to host them. Is this normal with ported/polished LS1 heads? Car was running and firing fine when I took them off....any suggestions.
