OEM LS1 main bearing clearance - some very general q's
I have occasionally heard folks say that "ls1's are set up loose from the factory" but I was wondering if anyone could compare ls1 bearing clearances stock vs say modern imports and also old SBC's. I know that our daily driver Acura TL has tighter clearances and is spec'd for 5w20, as are a number of Honda engines. But what about LS1 and LS2 stuff? Extra points if you are specific in terms of measurements.

with my crappy ring stack, i usually blow the tension out of the rings in 20 to 30 passes
The bearings have always looked new Flash coat still on the rods and machining grooves still in the mains.
Every other ring swap would be a bearing change.
last time around though, an exploding lifter caused a full replacement.

I've got a wierd bore size and ring thickness. So unless I have them special made, I'm stuck w/ a classic race set for a 327 SBC from total seal. Or a gapless set. Nobody makes a good ring until you get to 4" bore in a 1/16,1/16,3/16 stack.
