Default why does gm put a larger maf on?

if the smaller size mafs can support enough air for 500 hp why would they put money into making a larger size?

effeciency...a 2" true dual setup can support 800hp...but a 3" would make it a lot easier to get there (obviously not a direct relationship but i'm sure ya know what i mean)

It was cheaper. They combined the IAT and MAF into a molded plastic assembly. Saved on cost. The larger size made it possible to use the MAF on all of GMs engines, large and small.

Now if only I could locate a Vortech 6000 inlet manifold to mate up with that MAF. Torque city...
