Default Head Gasket Thickness?

What is the compressed thickness of the factory gasket? I measured the thickness of a removed one @ .055". Is it compressed any more when installed? What other choices are there for thinner or thicker?

.052 - .054 is what i've seen as advertised for the MLS gaskets.

cometic makes .040 and .045 off the shelf. i've got a .045 myself. they can also make you a custom one. i believe 6.0 MLS are .060

That's why I buy Cometic. You just tell them what you want and it's done.

Mr gasket is .042 verified thru their tech line.I'd sure like to know the part#
on the felpro gaskets that are .041 thick. When I was searching for gasket
information I called the felpro tech line about thr pt9824 stock bore gaskets
and they would not reveal the thickness to me since they are not a performance gasket in their oppinion. The gasket listed with a .041 compressed
thickness in the felpro catalog is for a 4" bore, not a 3.9 bore.

Well time to stop guessing, giving IMHO, and bullshitting then, time to get it back to factual based info! Ok, enough j/king. The best way is to either call a tech like some do, or look at the advertised thickness. Your right, listening to all the different info on here one would be lost, dazed and confused. I didnt know Fle-Pro considered their thinner gasket was "not performance" based, worked fine on a H/C/Nitrous application FWIW.
