Default AFR Heads rock

AFR heads are simply miles ahead of the older castings. Their designs are well thought out and the CNC execution is second to none.

Oh, and their flow numbers aren't overstated and they also flow substantially better than their competitors.....great cylinder heads!

Wow, look at the diff between the exhaust ports on the heads! AFR somehow always manages to get the best exhaust flow.

Anyway mr. I've got 2 sets of nice heads, what's the plans for the GMs?

Compairing GM's 241cc intake volume to AFR's newly released 225cc intake port volume. Wouldn't the AFR 225cc provide more port velocity than the 241cc GM head thus providing better throttle response than the GM 241cc head, but less than the AFR 205cc head.

I am caught in a dilemma, should I purchase 205's or 225's?

I'm going to keep the GM LS6 heads, at least for now. I traded a few big block EFI parts that I wasn't using anymore for them, so I'm not out any cash and the wife hasn't homed in on them yet... I'll install the AFR combo, see how it runs, then decide what to do with the LS6 heads. I love the AFR combo on paper, but I'm still worried about the valvetrain noise issue. If it's too loud, I'll probably go with an LS6 cam and the LS6 CNC combo instead. I like the AFR ports, but I don't really like the AFR valve/spring combo for my purposes because I'll neve run a cam that's matched to them. The LS6 spring and lightweight valvetrain combo would be better for me, so going with the AFRs was a tough choice. I'm not sure how noisy the dual springs will be with the type of mild cam that I'm running, or how fast they'll wear out.

I don't race the car often, it's more of a nice weather daily driver/go out to dinner car (that my wife uses it as much as I do), so it can't have any annoying traits or sound like a street racer.

Huh? What does GM 241` casting have to do with its port volume? It measures 201cc stock, about 215cc ported. What are you saying asking?

He's referencing the port volume that I listed, I measured one of mine and came up with 241. It's not a casting number, these are LS6 243 casting heads There's nothing in this thread about the smaller LS1 241 castings, the numbers are just a coincidence.

Thanks for the information. Made my decision very easy-AFR 205's are an obvious choice for me.
