Default Who Believes This???

1986 Porsche designated model 951. Commonly known as the 944 Turbo. This is the fastest street legal 951 in North America. It was featured in the April 2004 issue of European Car Magazine as possibly the fastest 951 in the world. It has a 3.0 liter 16 valve four cylinder motor boasting 564 horsepower(480 horsepower at the rear wheels) and 560 pounds of torque.
The car weighs in at 2900 lbs. This equates to a high 10, low 11 second pass in the quarter mile. Car retains stock driveability. By second gear you will have exceeded the U.S. national speed limit all the way to an actual top speed of 194 mph.
Approximately $200,000 has been invested into this car. It will outperform a number of street bikes let alone almost every mass produced supercar in the world. All while attaining over 25 miles per gallon and ice cold air conditioning. All mechanical work performed by Powerhaus Racing in Scottsdale AZ.

Someone explain to me how such a small engine can put out this much torque?

944 turbo's only have like 250 hp. Never heard of any model having that much power. And I was thinking the turbo models were 2.5 liters. I know they changed the whole car around many times though, some models had superchargers, some had turbos, others had neither, so who knows.

I believe the numbers it is making. Porsche makes some outstanding I6 motors. Not only that but they are experts with FI and make big power out of small motors. However I dont believe the claim about it being the fastest of its kind in the world...

Its certainly not stock. Re-read the post. "$200,000 invested."

I assume everything been re-done right. TURBO's rule.

Here is the rest of the info... This guy has this car for sale on E Bay.

It has been street/race restored to its present condition with only 12,900 miles. All drivetrain components are new or have been replaced all the way down to the axles. The leather interior is new with no tears, scuffs or cracks. A five thousand dollar stereo system in included. All custom installation consisting of Nakamichi head unit and 5 disc changer custom mounted in the dash. Dyne Audio speakers in a custom enclosure in the doors. A JL Audio WS6 10' subwoofer, and Phoenix Gold ZX 450 amplifier concealed in the rear without compromising rear hatch space.
Other extras worth mentioning: Twin Turbo rearview mirrors A.I.R. front
splitter A.I.R. rear bumper 930 S Steering wheel Blitz Adjustable Boost
Controller custom mounted in the dash. Greddy Boost gauge with memory custom mounted on A pillar. Wheels are Kinesis Motorsport polished aluminum wheels made specifically for the car weighing 21 lbs. each. Porsche European Spec driving light with separate Porsche relay and switch in dash. Custom Stainless Steel B&B Exhaust with free flow muffler. Custom floor mat set with Porsche logo in red. Calibrated 220 mph speedometer from North Hollywood Speedometer shop.

This car is turn key ready to go. No tuning is required as on many other high performance tuned cars. It has been built so well that it passed emissions with no catalytic converter. That means "IF" someone has enough power to keep up with you, you'll be burning the paint off their front end as the car blows a huge cloud of blue and or orange flame out the exhaust in between shifts. Look at the other cars on here. You can buy a new twin turbo and spend $135,000, and only get 400hp. Even the $180,000 GT2 is only 450hp. On top of that they weigh over 3300lbs. Again, this car is 456hp and 2900lbs. I make a GT2, and the Viper look like a 1979 pinto running on two bad cylinders. I've even taken a Hennessy equipped 550 Venom Viper. That's a $90,000 Viper with about $30,000 worth of modifications and I still took it. Save your money, buy my car for $60,000 and have enough left over to buy the wife a new car as well. Another bonus; at your option, Powerhaus Racing in Scottsdale AZ is offering a 1 year warranty on the car should you want to purchase it. That's how well it's built. Good luck!

A few wise words to the new owner. The car's paint is in excellent condition as far as detailing. The car hasn't seen rain in over 15 years. I am the only person besides my detailer, who has won awards as one of the top detailers in the nation, to ever wash the car. There are no scratches in the clear coat, let alone any swirlmarks or raspberry's. None! European Car said in print it was the nicest black paint the author and photographer has ever seen. A copy of the magazine will go with the car. It will be in that condition when you send a truck to pick it up. For that reason, I highly recommend you send an enclosed trailer to ship it to you, not an open transport.

There is a guy around by me that runs a inline six supra turbo that makes over 1500 hp. He aslo drives it on the street! Very easy to believe. Just be cautious on ebay!

"This equates to a high 10, low 11 second pass in the quarter mile."

What a ****** joke. In other words, it has not actually ran this time but on paper it will. Also, a high 10/low 11 is not extremely impressive for the supposed fastest of its kind.

I did pick up on this too. He says this is a 4 cyl engine cranking out 564hp/560 pounds of torque.

Wrong forum first off....

Anyways... 86-89 944 Turbos came with a 2.5 liter inline 4. 225hp. In 88 and 89 you could buy a Turbo S with 250 hp.
What this guy and Powerhaus (a very reputable shop specializing generally in 930s with big HP numbers) have done from the looks of it is put a 968 16 valve 3.0 engine in the car with obviously some aftermarket internals. Then they boost the poop out of it. Im sure lag is terrible... a 3.0 has a hard time spinning one big turbo like that. The power numbers arent that amazing. Enough boost and 480 rwhp is well within reason. Obviously alot of the drivetrain had to be upgraded. Im not sure how they figured that 480 rw is 564 at the crank. Oh well.

I had a 89 951 that made the stock 250 hp. Fun car... very smooth at high speeds.

regarding the question of whether or not a 4cy can make that kind of power, the answer is absolutely yes. Turbo + lots of boost + RPM's. no one stated where this power was.
