Default What's the smallest cam with a noticable lope?

I have been reading about cams here for over a year now and I am finally going to ge one next month. I am leaning towarda the TR224 or TSP225. I want my engine to last a long time and I don't want to spend a lot of money by overworking the engine and shortening the life of it. I am also going to down grade my TC to a 3000. I am already having problems with my TCI.

What I want to know is does either of these cams have a nice lope to it. Something that you will notice at idle.

Depends on the exhaust and idle speed too.

My buddy has a TR224 with MAC mids and a stock catback, you can't really tell it's different from stock. With his cutout open, it lopes a bit though.

Mine lopes real nice with Borla catback, ported MAC'S and ORY ... also have LS6 intake and ported TB, which helps, I guess.

Look for a 110 or 112 LSA
My TR224 is on a 114LSA. My idle is about 925 and you can hear there is a little something in the motor.

TR220 on a 112, I would be careful with A4's and too tight an lsa. You need that vacuum for brakes.

You, you can probably make your stock cam lope with a lower idle speed. The cheapest cam with lope is almost definitely the hotcam. It is a small cam compared to most, but makes goot power.

I have a Lingenfelter GT1 that will have a nice lope to it. its 218I 229E 560I 560E 113 this cam makes excelent power but does not have a stock idle because of the 113 centerline. I listened to a sound clip of it somewhere and it has a pretty good chop to it. Mine is brand new with the paper work and box I will take $200.00 plus shipping

What's up Blu. You should pass by the miami meet and listen to Apexman's car. He runs the TSP225 in his FRC Vette, along with some MTI 2E heads and there's no mistaking there's a cam in there. His old T1 used to chop nicely also. Magyver has it in his car now....

I just got my TR224 on 112LSA installed and have pacesetters, offroad y, and hooker catback. Even with the hooker you can definitley hear lope, idles around 850rpm. And with the cutout open, it sounds mean as hell!!

A friend of mine also has a 224 / 112 cam- it's the one sold thru speed inc. It chops hard with the cutout open on his car too.

my m.t.i 222/222 566/566 112lob hammer cam felt as if a stock cam was in the car. it made more power and you could hear it lob well for a small cam.

I used to run that cam also. From first hand experience, the T1 chops harder than the C1. But yeah, the C1 is yet another option.

Hey Carlos. I have been a little busy with work lately. Since I moved up to Ft. Lauderdale it is a nice long drive to get to the meets too. I'll try to get to one of the meets just as soon as my car gets out of the shop.
