what is the difference between a solid roller cam and hydraulic roller cam... This maybe a newb question but the most i see is a hyd. roller... what would a solid roller do to a daily driver?

if i'm not mistaken a solid roller uses solid lifter's...and a hydraulic cam uses hydraulic lifters...benefits are solid roller can rev higher without having lifter issues...most higher performance cars and most cams above 250 duration are solid roller...there are exceptions to everything though...you will have to set lash on a solid roller from time to time...don't know what it is i've just heard it...again i know none of this from personal experience so i wouldn't take my advice as "golden" on this...but should give you a general idea as i know some of the info that i gave you if not all is correct...

It's analogous to manual vs. automatic. Hydraulic cams/lifters automatically adjust lash (clearance between rocker tip and valve stem). Solid cams/lifters have to be hand adjusted periodically. I can't imagine you want to "adjust the valves" on your street car/daily driver.
