Default Broken Stock Retainer!

I was doing a cam and valvespring swap in an 03 truck last night when I found this. The truck had a 212/216 .52x comp cam in it with hardened pushrods and 918 springs using the stock retainers. I took all the aftermarket stuff out of the truck and reinstalled the stock cam, springs, and pushrods for the guy. The truck has 20,800 miles on it, the cam and springs had been it it about 4,000 or so. This guy had used up all of his luck on this retainer! Has anyone ever caught one at this stage? I'm sure a couple of WOT runs would have finished it off and made a hell of a mess!

Weird. I suppose it could have been a fluke. GM would have never honored that warranty, that's for sure!
