I was wondering which you guys would choose... a Rollmaster double roller or a Crance adjustable Double Roller?

I really like the Crane but I can't make up my mind.

I like ussing the stock sprockets and a LS2 chain.I think it is $30 or so.

Cloyes True Double Roller worth the $$$ and recommended by many engine builders!!!

What is the LS2 chain like?
I prefer the Jwis Kettin stainless steel single chain..

 

If you order a chain for an LS1 from GM you get the LS2 chain. It is a production update. I found this out when I ordered a chain from the dealer and noticed the thicker metal on the links.

 

I bought the Comp Cams adjustable double roller, and was very happy with it. Not too bad of a price, at about $110. I would recommend the LS1 sprockets and LS2 chain, looking back at it now...

 

i'll be pickin up the LS2 chain when it comes time.

 

I recommend the JWIS chain.

The LS2 chain wasn't out yet when I bought my JWIS. Anyone got any pics of the LS1 and LS2 chains side to side?

 

I want some details/benefits of the ls2 chain and stuff like that. Why not buy something like a crane or comp or something like that? Not sure which it is but I wouldn't buy the 400 dollar chain b/c I think thats F***in b/s for a damned timing chain.... hell I'de rather do a belt then

I have 30k miles on my 02 WS6 and about to do a cam swap. Should I change the sprockets and chain or would I be OK just changing to the LS2 chain?

 

You'll be ok just changing the chain.

 

Go with the LS2 chain. A few guys here (including me) are going with that chain. It will work with the stock sprocket. Good choice in my opinion.

 

If you dont need an adjustable set I agree with GM Chain, good roller. I am going with a F***ing BS $300 Cloyes Hex-Adjust with a JWISS Single Roller Chain. I dont like doubles cause the cam swap/oil pump and chain issues, with a single, its easier to swap out. As far as stock gears, look at the gears teeth for wear (sharp points/heavy wear on one side) and crack around bolt holes to check for replacement.

 

I installed a JWIS chain and 8000miles later when my engine went it was already loose.

Just to make sure, the LS2 chain will work on 1998 LS1 sprockets, right?
D%^n, I was quoted $58 from dealer yesterday. The part# was 12586482, right?

Also, I was told by the dealer, the LS6 oil pump part# is 12586665 $124.

 

The LS6 oil pump should be less than $80 from the dealer otherwise you're getting screwed. Check out SDPC web site.
