Default Crank Repairs????

Need advice from the experts on crank repairs.

I have an Eagle with on 500 miles on it before it spun 2 bearings (long story). Question is it worth getting repaired? How much would someone estimate repairing it and rebalancing it would cost. These cranks only list for $1000 and can be found for closer to $900.

Any direction would be appreciated. It really have no use for it and would like to do something with it even if it's to sell it cheap to someone who knows they can repair it for themselves, etc.

How bad is the damage to the crank? Were they main or rod bearings? How many hundreds off will it need to go?

Not real bad on one main journal #4 I think, but the other #2 has small transverse surface cracks you can see through the heat marks. Don't know how many hundreds it's off, never measured it. Any advice?

If you could post up a close-up pic of the worst journal that would help. If turning it .020 won't fix it, it may be scrap.

First thing to do is magnaflux it. If there are heat cracks it's worthless. Anything else can be fixed by a good crank grinder by going undersize.

Default Crank repair

If the crank isn't cracked in the fillets it can probably be repaired. I have no idea what this would run on your particular crank. Place to send it is: Mile High Cranks 303-781-6764 3945 S. Lipan Englewood CO. 80110. You might want to give Dave a call and get an idea on price.

I can Magnaflux it myself. I do that for a living. Didn't think I needed to because you can see the cracks, but I can't tell if they run up the journals. I'll Mag it to see and I may give Dave a call as well. Thanks for the help.
