Default Drilling lifter retainer tray?

Have any of you done this? What are your thoughts on it? I am thinking of doing it and want opinions.
I have heard that it helps reduce oil pooling in that area in the higher rpm ranges.

Do a search, there have been a couple threads on it already. There is an engine builder that does it. Personally, I would not do it because I feel these lifter guide trays are barely strong enough anyway.

flimsy enough as is, why take strength away from something that doesn't have it.

I was planning to do this as well. Maybe a smaller hole than the one that builder claims

Just a mental picture... wouldn't you want a bit of oil in those cups? I've heard plenty about lifter failure, wouldn't more oil be better? I doubt the oil pan is starved for oil anyways.

This was one of the tips on the show "Horsepower" when they were rebuilding a LS1. I think they called it the "LS Gun Project". The holes were drilled about halfway up the reservoir,so there will always be oil in the reservoir. The intent is to let more oil drain back into the pan, during periods of high rpms.
