Yah, I just NAILED my right middle finger knuckle on something in the engine. Cause a nice cut and more blood than I thought a knuckle had

Update:

Valve covers are now off. As well as the rocker arms and pushrods

Your knuckes will love you when it comes to the valvesprings...if you're using a 2 arm compressor like I did...

ps. you might as well get rid of that fxx cam and go with something bigger now because in 6 months you will want something else and then will have to go through all this again. lol....!!

tip # 5000 - dont use 12 point sockets unless you absolutly HAVE TO

do not tighten the valvecover bolts to 15 ft/lbs or they WILL break off in the head

if you have a 99+ year model, remove the last coilpack rail bolt on the passenger side and throw that bitch away.

once the radiator is out, you can remove the petcock no sweat.

have a torch ready for the pulley, and put it in the oven before re-installing.

Not only this, but use a pair of safety wire pliers and lock onto the wire to hold the bolt. Once out, do not take it off of the pliers and use the pliers to hold it into place when going back together. Learned this trick from somone else on this board.

Every year LS1's except for 97 and 98 have bolts that are hidden by the coil packs. So, while you can do that on your 98, most other people can not. Also, on 99+ cars, all the coil packs are mounted to a metal rail, so you just quickly unbolt that rail and they all come off at the same time.
