Royal Purple-Is it worth it?

Racing 41 is Royal Purple's best oil for the LS1, it has shown excellent results and can be used on the street, even for 6000 miles. I'm not too thrilled with their 5w30 or 10w30 street oils. Their 10w40 street oil should do pretty well though.

Two things.
1. My friend races and builds motors. His partner just switched to RP (correction it is racing 11) and dropped a tenth. He likes it.
2. I used it in my street car and when I tore it down it was coated inside with a film of brown. No detergents. I also had issues with my manual trans using it.
So... It does work for adding power as advertised. I just think that for a street motor it is not the best choice. My opinion. And everybody has one....

My worst oil test was with royal purple...0-40
my best was with castrol German 0-30
had valvoline and mobil 1...somewhere right between the two....
a buddy of mine uses the ams oil..and he swears by it...and his oil test did better than royal purple too...
I personally would stay away from royal purple in an LS1...

showed little to no wear. i swear by amsoil for other reasons but not impressed by royal purple.

When I started using RP 5-30 I actually started getting more than 260 miles on a tank. With Mobile 1 average was 221. With RP its about 263. With gas prices as they are I see some worth in that aspect.
