Probably a dumb question..
but is it ok to start installing the valve springs before installing the camshaft? I am still waiting for the camshaft to come in and I thought I'd just do the valvesprings now and get them over with.
Got another dumb question, is it ok to drain the oil pan before doing the install, or does there need to be oil in there? I need an oil change so I figured I would do it afterwords.

well if you're going to be doing two oil changes through the course of the cam swap anyhow.....the initial drain, then you fill with dino oil....after 500 miles you change it back to whatever you normally run. so why waste money?
I am WAY overdue for an oil change, I don't think it's a good idea to be running the engine with the new cam, valvesprings, ect with the oil that's in it right now. Haven't had an oil change since last novemeber, went into storage 3,000miles after that. I don't mind the wasting the money on the oil.
But thanks for the info as always
