Default You talk about easy

I started my heads and cam swap yesterday and got it all tore down. I am also putting a new clutch in at the same time. Let me tell you, if you are thinking about doing motor mounts or the drill mod this is the time to do it. You talk about easy. I am putting the new version 233/239 cam in along with PP stage 2 5.3's. I am also putting on an LS6 intake, ASP pulley, getting my throttle body ported and going with the ram powergrip hd clutch kit with a new flywheel. Oh yeah and I broke my oil pressure sensor too, even though I did alot of research on here and knew about that problem. I do have a question though. Which way do the lifters go in? Does the oil hole in the lifter go to the front or back of the motor? I am putting new lifters in and when I took the old ones out some were facing the front and some to the back?? I also left the bolts in the heads a little and lifted them up to let the coolant spill out and there is no coolant in the holes. I am going to tap them anyway and make sure they are dry and clean. Thank God for this website because I probably would of blown something up by now had I not had the opportunity to do research on everything. And yes I will post up when I get it tuned, followed up by some track times.

I just found out that apparently it doesn't matter which way the hole is on the lifters.

Glad everything went easy for you. Usually you break a bolt or stud or something during disassembly. Take your time putting everything back together and check it good before you fire it up. I tell you, you guys in Texas must have an easier time working on cars in the Winter. I just finished working on my motor at the end of Feburary and first week in March. Working in that cold barn on the bare ground when its 23 degrees out and snowing is no fun. Good Luck to you.

Shorts and t-shirt today I guess I was lucky not to break anything. Yeah I will probably take a while putting it back together but not too long so I don't forget where all the bolts go. Being that this is the second time around it seems a lot easier though. Move to Texas and then you can gripe about 90 degrees one day and then snowing the next or a tornado or hail or highway patrol. Highway patrol are pretty cool though. Hope yours went good by the way.

I forgot to mention that when I took my intake off my map sensor wasn't hooked up or if it was it wasn't snapped on good by the person that had the car before me because I didn't disconnect it. What effect would that have on these cars because I didn't notice any ill effects and I have driven it like that for over a year?

That was a good idea leaving the bolts in the block and lifting the heads, havent seen it posted before, but thats a keeper of step in reducing cleaning time for sure. Good luck with it all. If the MAP was plugged in, you most likely would have been getting a MAP code, P0130 I believe, unless it was disabled.

You should have gotten a code for the map sensor! Let us know how that cam works out with those heads too.

No I didn't flycut and they are 5.7's instead of 5.3's.
