Heads and cam setup for pure torque down low???
I am considering keeping my truck for awhile and was thinking about putting a heads and cam setup on it to give it some more grunt down low...
Can heads be ported to make a lot of low end torque? or would this be achieved with a custom grind camshaft?
the truck is a daily driver, i don't ever race it, will see lots of towing in the late spring and early summer, so more torque downlow would certainly help...
thanks

TTT for you. I like to know the same things, although I take my daily driver 99 Z71 to the track some.
I'd like to know what mildly ported heads - Stage 1 - would do for the complete powerband. Most guys post prak HP gains, but that doesn't show the big picture.
I'd assume that with a larger cam that you would be moving the powerband up in rpms. What cam properties will increase throttle response and torque and still give good power on the top end? advance, lift, LSA?
I have some thoughts, but want some knowledgeable opinions.
Thanks - Richard

Yes the port work wold definatly have something to do with it. But the big TQ gain would be in the choice in cams. fairly large dur.

Yes, the posrt job can effect where the torque occurs. Joe Prince is well known for porting S1 heads to match smaller cams and acheiving excellent results. I'll bet he could make a nice combo for your truck.
