Default LS1 crank > should I lighten or modify it?

Are there any mods I can do to my LS1 crank while I have the engine apart? What about the old trick of lightening and knife edging cranks?

The crank can not be lightened. If it is to light of to heavey it will tear the motor apart.
If anything you need to take all the parts to the motor and take them to a mechine shop and have them balacen all the parts.

HTC can lighten the crank for you. So can AMS.

Nothing wrong with taking material out of the counter weights it just takes a shop that know what they are doing...

just have to have it balanced down to about 2 grams front and back. should equal up to take a few lbs out. HPE can do it as well as AMS, HTC and a few others on the board..

I agree while you're taking material out, you can always get a different rod journal size.

3.75 Crank, Acura/Honda Journal in my car.
