Default How much can I mill my heads?

How much can I mill my heads if the cam specs are as follows: 224/224 .581/.581 112lsa
This cam and these heads are going on a stock 5.7L. Stock rockers with 2.02 and 1.6 valves. The heads are 5.7 liter heads, not the ls6 version. What compression ratio will I yield with your suggestion?

-.030 is safe with a decent gasket. Should yield 11:1 I believe.

If you go ook at the sticky on the top of this forum you'll find your compression answers. I'd ask the cam builder about P to V clearence and if you're really pushing it, clay them on install. Or you can (this is what I'll likely do) just put the heads on with no gaskets, turn the motor through a few complete revolutions by hand to make sure nothing touches. If you clear that test and then add the gasket thickness you should be fine. I'll clay some pistons at the same time.

And when I was figuring on using 5.7 heads I came up with about .035 with a thick gasket and about .025" with the thin Felpros. to get me to 11:1. I ended up going with 5.3 and we'll just cc them to 59-60cc.
