Unhappy This is what the knocking was...

Well, I finally got around to pulling the passenger side head to see why the engine was knocking and shaking so bad... turns out a valve broke off and embedded itself in the top of the piston, ate up a spark plug completely, and the rest of the valves scarred the tops of all the pistons. The engine is now total carnage, but I will let the pictures describe the rest... Please pray that I don't shoot myself tonight

.... Anyone wanting to sell a low mileage LS1/LS6 longblock by chance ?

Oh never mind, I read your last post. You said you had the cam timed wrong first then went back and fixed it, you broke that **** when the cam was timed wrong the first time. That sucks man. With the cam timing off, all the intake valves smacked the pistons. The damage is not gonna be limited to the passengers side. You probly bent all 8 intake valves.

Oh I know. I just can only deal with so much heartbreak at one given time.

True, but I do not have anywhere close to the money to build something bigger and better now.

Bummer...that convinces me. I'm going to clay my pistons and then place the heads on without gaskets and turn the motor through a vew revoutions by hand to see how close things are before I light it off.

I feel bad for you man, but those kind of lessons prove to be invaluable.
