Default TSP 231/237 or TSP 233/239

OK guy's and gal's I am currently looking to go a little bigger on my cam in my 02 WS6. I currently have a TR224 that made 393RWHP on my stock tune. I am looking to go well over 400 with a tune on a new cam and I am pretty sure I would be easily over 400 with a tune on the TR224 but I am getting the itch to go bigger. I am stuck between the TSP 231/237 or the TSP 233/239. I am going to keep the comp 918's and TR pushrod's so I am not sure if those Spring's will handle the 233/239. I also spray a 150 Shot of nitrous too my car too. So help me pick the one that is going to be fairly streetable and make 400-425 off the bottle and 550-575 on the bottle. Thanks

not to much of a difference there. I run the 231/237 on the 150 shot and she loves it

actually the ramp rates on the 231/237 will be a little easier on the 918's than the 233/239 will. My understanding is that while the duration isn't all that different, TSP used a much more aggressive lobe design on the new 233/239 design. So, if you're intending to reuse your 918's, then i think the 231/237 would suit you nicely. Also, the split on that cam is well-suited for your nitrous.

TSP used a even more agressive ramp rate on the second version which is the 233/239R2. TSP recomends that cam over the 231/237.

Holy crap! Factory freak. I've seen several 231/237 cam only dyno's in that range fully tuned. I'd stick w/ that current bumpstick, your car seems to like it.

Your Comp 918's will handle either one with ease, but why not go with what I have, the TSP 235/240?

I had the TR 224/224 114 in my car with the 918's. Good cam but, as with all of us...I wanted to try out something bigger.

Called TSP & talked to Jason and got the 233/239 and I'm using the 918's still. This cam works excellent, pulls like a mule around 3K, and sounds kick ***.

Just my .02

Thanks for the reply's. I am leaning toward's the 233/239 right now but I think I will call TSP today and run it by them and tell them what I have and what I want out of the car and let them pick the cam for me.

As far as keeping the TR224 (5POINT7) I have thought about that but now I am curious to know what I can make with a bigger cam. Like I said I want 400-425 on motor and I think if my car like's a bigger cam with a tune I can get there. Thanks again for all the info.

Hey Cal, how do you like the 235/240 cam? Im thinking about going with that cam to use with the PRC heads (if TSP determines they will fit) instead of the 233/239 cam.

2002BLKTA, If you decide on the 233/239 cam I may sell mine. Its never been installed, in fact I haven't opened the tube to see it. You can PM me if you want it.

I still want to know how he put down 393rwhp & 385rwtq w/a TR224 114 lsa on a stock tune!?! Are those 241 heads that much feking better than mine? My car is tuned and only putting down 375, could get more with some timing but I dont think 20hp more. WTF! Swap meet this weekend I'm going looking for the 241's!

If the 233/239 V2 has a better low end tq (as it should) than the 231/237, go with the 233/239 hands down.
I love my ol' 231/237, but the low end tq was simply not there until my latest round of bolt-ons (QTP HVM LT's and 90/90).

PM me your tuning modifications. Low end torque won't be like a stroker . . . but it will be good with the right tune

i don't know if i like the 231/237 cam i mean it's a beast for me but this is my first ls1 and it's putting down the numbers in my sig...there's no low-end on the 231/237 id much rather have a futral cam and i almost thought about swapping cams when i was doing the oil pump and timing chain swap...i'll just wait till i can go with a bigger engine and then get futral to custom grind me a BIG cam...course it is really kind of hard to judge this car on street tires cause there is no traction at the top of first, or 3/4 through second...the clutch and tranny have also seen better days so i'm sure i could get some in third as well, but i have to granny shift to not grind

I'm lovin' the 235/240 cam. It even has a good low end, believe it or not. It runs rough below 2000rpm, but still has plenty of torque down there. I see no reason to ever use anything smaller. Pulls like crazy up top. I'm going to get it dynoed next Saturday, so I'll post up then.

Man sounds like the cam I'm looking for. Do you have the PRC heads too? Jason said they should clear the heads, but by how much? Is it a Lunati or a Comps Cam? Anyone looking for a 233/239, I have one for sale?

PM me bud with your dyno runs!
