The unexpected happened
ANY help is appreciated.
I have read of this happening with brand new bolts. It can also happen if the bolt holes are not cleaned very well, or if there is coolant/water in tiny amounts left in the threads.

DO NOT break an easy out in the bolt. Easy outs are hard and brittle. If you break one in the bolt, it will really suck trying to drill it out.
When putting the bolts back in, make sure the threads are clean, both on the bolt and in the block. Use a thread cleaning tool to clean the threads. Also use the manufacturers recomended lubricant and torque specs.
