How much displacement with 5.3 heads

How much displacement with 5.3 heads My motor is going down hill fast so it's time for a new short block and i am wondering what CID i can get and still keep my A/S stg 2.5 5.3l heads?? I would also like to stay aluminium if possible. I'm thinking 383 but what are your thoughts? Thanks Shawn

with a 383 I think the 5.3 heads will be fine. The reason I think that is the 383 uses a stock 3.9 bore. If you go to a 402 you need to step up on the cylinder to something opened up to a 4 inch bore. You will also need larger chambers with a 402 depending on what pistons you get if you want to keep using pump gas.
