top end questions with large cui
im looking to get a 402, now i need to piece together the topend. this car is primarly going to be used on the street- for now
my questions- what is a good cam for a stroker motor? sdpc suggested a 236/236 cam. i want something big, that will make big power, but obviously i can drive on the street. i was thinking along the lines of a 238/242 or larger. any draw backs to a cam that size or bigger? people are putting 236 durration cams in their their stock cui motors without a problem. i want the most hp i can achieve...or is the extra power going to 10 more degrees not worth the sacrifice in drivability and higher powerband?
heads- so many choices. sdpc is pushing afr 205s. now i dont want to sound cheap, but how much power do they make over say a stock ls6 head, or reworked ls6 head? are the chambers going to be too small for a 402 on those heads? i can get a patriot ls6 worked head for 500 less....which would be nice to use on tuning or something . or is it worth it to go to the afrs. on the flipside, what about the afr 225s vs the 205. is the extra 500 worth it on those? i have a hard time justifying the extra 500-1000 bucks if all im going to see is 5-10 more hp compared to a cheaper head.
now time for a silly question- how much hp would i lose if i had stock 01-02 exhaust manifolds on the car vs long tube headers. i estimate about 30 rwhp.

DONT skimp on the heads........ btw: a patriot ls6 "STYLE" head is not the exact same thing as an LS6 head "LS6" cores ALONE are on the other side of 1k

Whatever you do, do not keep stock Exh. manifolds. Major bottle neck.
Heads: either LS6 stage 3 or AFR 225 milled (pistons with valve reliefs for being able to run bigger cams)
Cam: nothing smaller that a 240+ duration (custom for your heads)
