I read and article in an old car craft mag were they said that a set of AFR heads were good for over a 100 hp over the stock 5.0 heads. That seem a little to good to be true for me.
search AFR and you will find ALOT of posts about this....

My mods are in my sig with Patriots and with that mild cam I have run 4 in various mods from stock to my buds with cai, one of the pulleys and catback and tune and have yet to loose from a stop and on roll, but it gets REAL close from a roll. Doesnt really matter, there is someone faster! ALWAYS!

If you want to confidently own Cobras then get a set of heads and a real big cam and if that isn't enough just slap a little silly sauce on there and you'll be golden.

Dam Im Supprised No One Had First Mentioned A Set Of Drag Radials And A Good Torque Converter... Stock Those Things Are Not Too Fast And Hell If He Cant Get Off The Line Hes Gonna Have A Hard Time Making It Up On The Top End Id Start Out With Lowering Your 60" (thats Where The Most Bang For The Buck Is Gonna Be Anaways) Then The Cheep Way To Do It Is A 125 Shot No N2o Id Bet With Just That And Those Mods You Would Be Up There... Also Look At Weight Reduction Remember The Rule Of Thumb .. Every 100lbs Is A .10 In The Qtr (generally) Also His 500 Is Not All Its Made To Be Form What Ive Heard The Cobras Powerband Is Kinda Peakey Compared To The Ls1 So His Avg Power Over His Usable Rom Range May Be Alot Less Than Say A Flatlined 400-450hp Car.....mabye

I Bet The N20 And The Verter And Tires And Youll Have Him In The Qtr... You Might Even Get Him From A Roll But That Will Be Harder..remember Those Things Are 3900+lbs If I Remember Properly

reason i didnt say converter:
my friend Jay has a 4200 converter and runs mid 11s... stock internal. on the street, he hangs with a cobra, but doesnt really walk them. at the track.....well, they have to beat a mid 11 to beat him.
my other friend has a M6 car with upgraded valves... beats stock cobras and hangs with pulleyed ones... he now has a mild cam, and more then keeps up with lightly modded cobras on the street.
the 'verter will kick their *** at the track, but loses most of its advantage elsewhere.

ive actually looked at some quarter mile times on some 03s and 04s and w/ average drivers they were only running mid 13's. ive also "heard" (note: HEARD, not for sure if its true) but the 03&04 Cobras aren't really making 390. I've heard they rated em at the crank. Like old style Gross HP vs Net at the flywheel??? Anyone know about this?

why dont they pull near as well as an F-bod? I mean yeah, supercharged HP is a lil different than Naturally Aspirated. But with a Cat back. Y pipe and intake to the TB an LS1 fbod could slide into the 12's too

For one thing they are heavier. Our cars have weight issues, but theirs are worse. They don't launch well, and most 03/04 owners would probably rather try a pansy "roll race" than run from a dig.

The IRS on the cobra's play into that? but i mean really...for all the hype walking with em, theyre sure as hell not worth the price youre paying. but...thats my two cents
