JUST A LITTLE INFO ON THE 03' 04' COBRAS

It is possible to have a cobra hitting 500 rwhp with only a programmer, intake, smaller pulley and cat-back exhaust (not even full exhaust).

As far as the KB cobra a lot of money will have to be dished out to even come close to competing with these guys.

Also KB cobras aren't the baddest aftermarket blower these guys can run either. They are very unpredictable when it comes to how much power they are going to put down. I have seen some cars put down 540's with the KB and some put down 600's with the same amount of boost.

My best friend has a Whipple and I used to have a mustang before getting my WS6 so I do know what I am talking about. His car put down 497 rwhp with only the pulley, catback, programmer and intake.

The Whipple numbers will be present in about a week and 1/2. We are installing this pig next Thusday and are expecting 680's or so.

I keep you posted!!

I second that statement. And when you find someone they are going to tell you all kinds of B/s about the heads, because they don't want to look like an a$$ hole for spending $2200 and not getting the results. I talked to one guy at the Super Chevy Show in Ennis TX last year and he was telling me all this stuff about the heads but he kept giving me vague answer to basic question. I just need some one to tell the truth are they worth the $2200 PERIOD or better yet is it a better bang for the buck head out there like Patriot or TEA?

Here's some research that I have done

AFR 205cc Mongoose Street

Lift Intake Exhaust
.100"
.200" 140 112
.300" 200 170
.400" 251 203
.500" 281 221
.550" 292 226
.600" 298 230

Price: $2,182
No core

TEA Stage 3
LS1 5.3 Stage 3

Lift Intake Exhaust
.100" 70.9 55.1
.200" 141.3 115.3
.300" 204.2 157.0
.400" 251.3 200.6
.500" 292.5 255.7
.550" 308.2 268.3
.600" 319.6 276.0

Price: $2,099.95
$350 Core for New 5.3 Heads

who's better???

Quick question, something I/we should all know. For those "in the know" with the 03/04 Cobras.....What would you expect an average/competent driver in a 485rwhp Cobra to run in the 1/4 if they had drag radials? (stock rear, etc, just the easy power mods and DR's)

good question with that kinda of power a good driver should be able to run mid 12 sec to high 11 sec depending on track and weather...

Several of us 2004 GTO owners have gone with the AFR205 heads.

LS1 with CAI and catback = 307RWHP SAE

+ LT headers and cats = 330RWHP SAE

+ AFR205 (stock, no milling or porting) + 216/220 112LSA camshaft + ASP pulley = 398RWHP SAE

This is through the stock two piece, rubber ujoint driveshaft and IRS.

Default I'm Back

Hey guys,
First off, thanks for the feedback to my thread. Second, I have been out due to my login being screwed up. But to stay on the subject, I understand the power that 03-04 Cobra's are making. I have seen it in action. But nevertheless, I am a die-hard Camaro fan , And I say you can get by them! Possibly the best way (and affordable) is to spray. I am now thinking about dosing my LS1 with a 200 shot , and see where that takes me. I know they make a lot of power, but the LS1 is no slouch what-so-ever! They got a rep for a reason. I just need to figure out a good combo that works, and stick with it. With my budget, spraying will be the best way for me to get on the playing field.Probably some different heads and a cam set-up for spraying as well. By the way, like my new avatar?

Nice recipe! Hmmm, what if you added a 100-120 shot of N20?

If you don't mind me asking, what did all that cost you?

The MTI 2E heads are an affordable cylinder head. Their dyno #'s are very consistant. With there 228/232 on a 113Lsa,you should be able to hold your own.
