LS6 block ever in a camaro?
I have a friend who has a camaro SS. He says that it's the special edition SLP version with the LS6 engine in it. I just chocked it up to his normal way of exaggerating things, but then, he put a cam in his car and pulled over 400 hp without heads. It's an aggressive cam, but nothing out of this world (230/237 ish). Now, I'm thinking...does he have a LS6 block? I think it's an 01 or 00. I did a search on SLP camaros and I understand that all SS Camaros are basically SLP "tuned" camaros with some SLP parts like the intake, wing, and other various parts. If I sound like a moron, please forgive me. I'll try and find more information if you want, but what can you tell me about the LS6 block/engine history in a Camaro. I just read in another thread that the WS6's in 00 and 01 came with an LS6 block.
Also, if you do put an LS6 short block in an LS1 car, what are the gains and what is the differences? Where does the LS6 make it's power? Is it in the cam and heads or does it go far beyond that? I'm sure it does because Z06's respond much more aggressively to the same set of heads/cams than a regular C5...right?
Thanks for listening to the ponderings of a newbie.

So would I make the identical power from my LS1 if I change my heads and cams to LS6 heads and cams (and maybe the LS6 intake)? Of course, I won't do that since I would be going to a more aggressive cam.
Or to rephrase the question...
If a Z06 and an '01+ LS1 C5 has the same aftermarket heads and cams, would the power output be similar/same? Of course, I understand that the 1/4 mile times will be lower due to the decreased weight.

better *oiling*, you can read about it in one of JRP's stickies in the top of the new users forum.
most reguard the ls1 block as being more structurally sound. it also offers the same power levels as an LS6 block. the ls6 in the z06 vette also has a better PCV system that runs out the front of the valley cover.

if your car is a 2001 or newer, you already have the LS6 intake manifold

I still have to get some more things. I have to hide some money from the wife...you know how it goes. I'm thinking that I should have found a cam with a 112 LSA, so I might sell the cam. It's not going in the car for a couple of months anyway.
