Default what kind of oil?

I live in Texas where it can be over 100 degrees in the summer. I was wondering what oil yall would reccommend. I have heard good things about Mobil 1 10W-30 but i also heard synthetic does not do good in hot weather.

Most people including myself will recommend a 0w30 0w40. You should be fine with either. Also you can search some of patmans posts hes the oil expert on LS1TECH. Good Luck

I live in Phoenix and it gets really hot, so I will not run any 30 weight oils. I run Mobil 1 0W-40 in my 01 and Mobil 1 15W-50 in my 94.

Not 100% but doesn't NASCAR use full synthetic oil? Those engines get quite a bit hotter...plus I hope synthetic isnt bad in really hot weather.

You heard wrong. Why would a superior oil be worse in the summer? Synthetics perform better in extreme heat and extreme cold compared to conventional oil.

I run 5 1/2 10-30w and 1 quart of 0-40w and use 6 1/2 quarts in the system. Thats with the K&N oil filter that flows really well
