Default Another oil pressure thread. Im kind of worried now, is it too low??

After reading some of these threads I got kind of worried. My oil pressure on cold start up is fine, well above 40 psi not sure how much though, but when it warms up it will over under 40 psi. Sometimes it will be just under 40 and other times it will be a good ways under 40, somewhere around 35 I think. The needle is sitting on the left tip of the 4 in 40. Under partial throttle it always goes up over 40 but never really payed attention other than a quick glance, I will now that Im worried. Is my oil pressure ok or does it seem as if somethings up with it?? Mods are in sig

I would say that is low. Mine runs about 70 at WOT and 50-60 most of the other time. Did this start happening after removing the pump? Could be the O-ring. I have heard that will cause low pressure.
I would think if you have 40+ that should be fine.
What oil are you using?

It should be fine. Stock I would hit 18-20 psi at hot idle. If you are at ~35 psi hot idle and over 40 when in the gas, assuming ti continues to raise at least a little as the revs go up, you should be fine. The old rule of thumb is either 7 or 10 psi per 1,000 rpm.

Its a built enigne, so clearances may be different than stock causing the lower pressure.

The thing to worry about is fluctuation. If you get oil pressure that is all over the map, then you have an issue. Mine is 60 on a COLD start, and 38-42 hot.

What oil is in it? Change to some 10-40 or 15-50 mobil one.
