Default What combination of cam heads and headers

What combination of cam heads and headers should I go with? I want a car that will be reliable and that will also have the power and still Idle pretty smooth. I would Like to get close to 400 horses but I dont know what would be the best set up as far as the headers the cam and heads.
Thanks for any help.

Is money no object ? What year is your car ? Do you have to pass a smog test?

all the usual boltons and can alone should get you around 400 horses.i'd go with any full length header,a cat-back,ory,ported tb ,and a cam in the mid to upper 220s on a 114 if you want it to idle decent and a dyno tune.you will probably need a clutch upgrade very soon also.if you want 30-40 more rwhp than that a set of tea 5.3 stage 1.5s or other sponsor heads that flow 300+ "should" get you there.tea heads work very well with a fms f13 i've heard but can't remember the specs.

best bang for ur buck would most likely be some hooker/pacesetter long tubes, true duals and OR a hooker catback( i say this because its the cheapest, and best sounding with ory and flow is great!) and a tr224 or if u dont mind big but still a little tame the tr230/224, f13, and or a g5x1 are all great cams that would most definately help u achieve ur goals(i know there are other cams out there that are hitting good numbers, im just throwing out a few off the top of my head that are pretty tame). You seem to have the majority of the bolt-ons, but you need to lose that 85mm MAF! Its a bitch to tune with/for tuners to tune. There also isnt really any added benefit as well unless ur going wild cam only or h/c

If you don't mind spending some bucks, you can get around 400 rwhp with factory exhaust with Thunder Racing's CheaTR heads/cam package. If you want to go with long tubes, be aware that some severely compromise daily driveability (low hanging y-pipes, stinky off road pipes, bangine pipes).

I am verry happy with my mti heads. Cost was middle of the road. Cams do a search there are hundreds of them. I had thunders 224 cam with full boltons and made 392rwhp 386rwtq. Header check in the external engine section. Kooks/qtps are you top of the line. Also check out jrp's exhaust section. like slow trap said get the ls6 intake H/C need to breathe. I also 2nd getting rid of the 85mm maf, I got lucky with mine and it was able to be tuned. I am ditching it next trip to the dyno.

If i had an F-Body.. I would go with Hooker LT's, TEA heads and probably an X1 cam.

read this.

that should help you understand some things about cams and get you somewhat on your way. heads are a personal opinion. TEA, FMS, MTI, all good heads.
