I don't think a cam-only forum would help in the long run, just because these "noob-style" questions seem to change by seasons. Right now its "which cam", almost a year ago it was "which headers", there was about 5 MILLION threads asking which headers to get, comparing jet-hots, hookers, etc. Next, the "which heads to go with my cam" will probably start to get popular.

I try not to pick on them too much just because I think we've all been there at one time or another, but I agree it does get annoying.

It's not limited to this section though, if you go into other forums they're full of questions like "What shifter, pro 5.0 or ripper?" or "12 bolt vs 9-inch" or "which stall for a stock a4" or my favorite: "can I beat this guy?" (in the street racing section). They get old, so I just skip through them and don't even bother to read them most of the time.

Thing is we get tired of things like this, when the noobs could anwser their own questions easier and fast with the damn SEARCH button...

I know, and I agree 100%, but most of the time people are lazy. It's easier for someone to give them the answer than for them to have to look it up themselves. Other times, especially the case with cams, they would rather have people give them an opinion more personalized to them (meaning, they knopw the TR224 is a good cam, but is it a good cam for their setup? Even though they're most likely all stock ).

I say we just make the search button HUGE across the top of the main page and add a disclaimer like: "Warning, you will be banned for asking stupid questions. Do a search before you ask!" .

I've got to agree with PREDATOR-Z=
"testing in order to graduate to posting.."
I *KNOW* i'm a newbie here, but i searched for the right info before i did my cam swap. If i was going to a foreign country, i would AT LEAST learn enough of the language BEFORE going so i could communicate with the locals and they might take me seriously. The way i view this might not be typical, but maybe we should FORCE new members to take a basic test so they might have a better understanding of the working of the LS* platform for their benifit as well as the "older" members.
Hell, i'd take the test because i'm sure i might learn something i didn't know, and isn't that the reason we ALL come here?

the testing idea is good but will probably discourage new membership so i don't think that will fly with the owners of the site. as far as the noobs well they always be there so there is nothing we could do plus we where all noobs once and some of us still are. The older members could always make like a mirror site or something or have like a link on this site to the other one or something and we could test to get into that one but wi'll probably have to fork over the cash ourselves to keep i t running since i don't think ls1tech will alow it to have sponsors, and membership like this one does, u know it might end up beign competition, so it would have to be like a private site we the members pay for.

Before which headers it was tons of questions about the loudmouth. Then it was tons of questions about the loudmouth and headers.

Yup, every section has something like this it seems.

It reminds me of my middle schoo shop teacher, back in teh day. He always had a "fad fule". One year it would be no yo-yos for example.

All the talk about noobies, and the same questions asked, I would assume that it is a matter of age. The younger the person the less they know or understand but the more they wish too!! Pity that it does become repetitive. Also at what stage does one stop being a noobie. Mods done! Time! Posts! Or lack of stupid Q's asked!

Guys, tons of people are doing cams and with all the variables out there lots of new people will definitly be posting cam questions. This forum is here to help people, and if that means there's tons of cam threads, so be it. I certainly encourage people to post links to answer threads to answer questions to some extent, but we don't need this board to get an image of not being friendly to all levels of experience.

As for the tough questions getting little to no replies, that may be because most of the people with that experience are actually out working on the stuff all day and don't have time to casually read the boards as often as the average car enthusiast. I'd like to think if somebody does know the answer to the tough questions, they'd get answered, but obviously there will be less people to answer those questions than others.

If anybody feels there are 4-5 existing cam threads we can list in a sticky, let me know and we can try it out for a bit.

Sure, asking the same old question does get old. Everyone was a nooby at once, like I am. If nobody ever asked any questions though, there would be nothing under the search button.

There are still plenty of incredibly stupid questions being posted. Just recently somebody posted and asked what cam to get and all we really knew about their car was that it had a cat-back and was a convertible. Perfect example.

Don't have to be perfect, you just have to know how to read. You read stickies before you post when that is what they say to do.

Says the person with posts/threads so stupid that they have to be deleted.

Edit: if this thread avoids deletion in the long term i think we should make it the, or one of the links posted into the bad cam threads.

I've come to the conlusion that you have some "issues." I'm not the only person you like to pick on. I've seen your other posts. You like to go around and judge other peoples posts and decide if they are worthy or not. You leave alot of rude one liners. Take off your jacket and loosen your tie. Learn to relax. Yes, I agree, I have seen some less than logical posts here. I've even left one. Are you going to waste all your time hunting down all the not so worthy posts and leave rude comments on all of them. There are only so many hours in the day. Why do you have to be so mean?

The point of this thread is that you don't have to hunt down the "not so worthy" (ie pointlessly lacking information) threads because they are everywhere all the time. When this thread was started (not by me) there were six in the top ten I beleive it was. I also virtually NEVER post something in response that does not have some helpfull information of my own, regardless of the "worthiness" of the original post.
