Default HELP with Valvespring install!!!

Ok...I have both of the valve springs off of the number one cylinder and it looks like I have 16 of the same size valve seals but when I pulled them both off the exhaust is a different size than the intake seal. All I have is 16 valve seals that are the same size as the intake (the left one). Is it going to be okay to put all 16 valve seals on even though the old exhaust valve seal is taller?

I have a 2000 trans am ws6 and the part number of the valveseals is 511-16.

Thanks in advance! Please help!

It wont matter as long as the seals are made to fit the valve stem diameter.

Last year I upgraded my seals from the stock umbrella, to Crane's umbrella
style.

You can see the obvious differences (even height), but they both do the same thing.

What color is on the seals? Are they half black/half brown or all 16 brown?

FMS told me that the brown ones work for both the intake and exhaust. So thats what I used.

From what I understand the brown seals (exhaust) are made of a material that can handle higher temperatures than the black seals (intake). Because of this you can use exhaust seals on the intake valves, but not intake seals on the exhaust valves. Bottom line is if you have 16 exhaust seals (brown) you should be o.k.

I ordered my kit from TR and in that kit I got the Comp Cams seals. It’s the expensive kit (63-26921-KIT) so I really hope that I wouldn’t be given something that won’t do the job. I figured that Comp Cams wouldn't give me 8 seals that are practically unusable so I just started using the black ones for both intake and exhaust. They aren't GM parts so the colors will possibly not play as big a role. As long as the material is able to withstand what it needs to I'm hoping it should be fine. Anyone know that my assumptions are incorrect? I’m new at this, so please feel free to chime in. Thanks everyone!

Ummm no, if you're saying that they sent you 8 brown and 8 black you can not just mix and match them as you please. The brown ones NEED to go on the exhaust valve. Admittedly I don't know what would happen if you put an intake seal on an exhaust valve, but I wouldn't try it on my car.

Put the brown ones on the exhaust valves. Better safe than sorry.

Yeah I know what you mean. I'm ususally not up for taking chances on my car, but I'm assuming all of them (since they are the same) are up to being exhaust seals.

Just make sure the seal isn't mashed down on the spring seat. The spring seat should still be loose after the seal is pushed all the way down.

Well I don't have a "Big sexy cam" like you but I did get a TR 224/224. I have to pass emissions here In Loudoun Va so I went with basically the most agressive cam I could get and still pass. I really wish I could have gotten something more agressive, but from what I've heard, I should be pretty happy with this cam.
