I agree,
we are talking about out of the box right?
edelbrock has great heads for the money but, sbc,sbf heads are a couple of notches below afr's stuff(HP) in the same class..they are cheaper though.

has anybody noticed edelbrock only lists 1 assembled head number?61969
how about the perimeter style valve covers?

correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a 65cc chamber suggest LS6 style heads??? I thought a stock LS1 had somewhere around 67cc with the LS6 in the 64-65 range.

if they're smart (and seeing edelbrocks past heads, they probly did think of this) they have BOTH styles in the head..... fitting perimeter bolt covers AND centerbolt covers.

just like alot of small block chevy heads do.

I have jobber pricing in my system but I dont think its right...
Until I get a conformation about pricing I cant give it out....

I believe this head will work very very well,I also believe Edlebrock will have LINGI cut up some cams to compliment them....The runner CC is 203 which will make broad TQ,I would bet they flow upwards of 290 and I wouldnt be suprised if they have LS6 style exhaust ports, has anyone seen the exhaust port on this head?

I've used Edelbrock's heads in SBF applications and they make some good stuff...

Either way it's nice to see more vendors on the market....more vendors = more competition = reduced prices for all of us.

Heads are pretty epensive right now....especially the 243-casting heads (ls6 heads)
It's gonna take a few yrs for those prices to go down, but they finally will...That's just the nature of the market.

Very cool, more competition the better I say. I can't wait on the price figures.

They are both styles. I asked the rep at the Year One Commerce Challenge. I also asked about the price and he said he didn't know, but would guess around the $1200 - $1500 range complete.

What you fellas are forgetting or maybe don't know is that Edelbrock is casting these heads and Lingenfelter is porting. That's one hell of a combination and I think they'll likely do every bit as well as the AFR's.

For the last 10 years AFR made a better street head. They flow good through the lift range, they made way more power. The edelbrocks were good pieces, but usually they were more conservative with sizing. Also, AFR really brought flow numbers into light. The thing is Edelbrock usually sells stuff as cast, and AFR is usually CNC ported to some degree. You cannot sand cast stuff and be as accurate as CNC porting. Still Edlebrock may come up with a really good head for the LS1.

Edit: I just read lingenfelter will be porting the heads. They may flow great.

I am sure Edelbrock studied the AFR 205 piece well before presenting their design. I just hope the heads do not have any tacky advertisement milled or cast on them. For example the very large AFR logo on each AFR head.

man these look like some pretty nice heads, I would like to know the price also. I also went to the Edelbrock website, I was going to try to email them or call them and see if I get more info on the heads, but I couldn't find an email address or phone #, did I miss it?

I don't think you missed it, they haven't listed it yet to my knowledge. I just hope the pricing is *fair*, not utterly outrageous as they have been in the past. I almost bought a pair for the bird then realized I have perimeter style heads and should probably invest in a set of conversion parts before I start modding.

i hope the pricing is in line with their other heads, so 12-1500 that would be nice.

does anyone have any specs on these, are they going to have the thicker deck like the AFR and AllPro's?

just wondering
thanks

I can't speak for the Edelbrock LS1 heads, but I have two friends who ordered Edelbrock heads for two different applications; 390 big block Ford and 408 (stroker) Mopar heads.
In the case of the 390 heads, they had excessive casting in the water jackets which caused bad overheating and just didn't perform as good as expected. The Mopar heads (which are for late models and just came out) were very rough looking and had to be hand ported to hit 286 cfm at .600 lift; in fact the finished numbers were almost identical to the PP 5.3 head flow numbers. Either way competition is good and hopefully will drop the prices down.

I hope the price is fair AND I do have confidence that the combo of Edelbrock/Lingenfelter will be very good. I think the performance will not be the issue as much as the price.
