Default question about timing chain slack

well i got my chain on and the dots line up when i turn the motor around each way, but i notice one side is tight and the other is loose. im using a new ls2 chain and dont know if this is just normal. wanna make sure before i get it all back together

My new Crane double roller is pretty loose also. I removed the front cover after running the motor ten minutes and was surprised to see how loose it is.
GM makes a dampner. It is just a piece of plastic that the chain rubs on to help keep the slack from bouncing. There is a picture in Handzels book pg 113. P/N 88958607 It was way over priced because it never made it into production. I bought it because it may help to keep things under control at high RPM.

i think its pretty normal for any chain assembly to have a side that is tighter than the other, you want some slack
