Best rpm for me was 5 rpm before I hit the 6200 prm rev limiter. Cars with the '98-00 cams seem to respond shifting higher in the rpm band. I used my HPP3 to raise my redline to 6400 to keep from hitting the rev limiter.

Now with heads/cam and tuning, all this is academic.

Id set it lower than 6200 because by the time the tach reads 6200 id be bouncing off the rev limiter for a second or two. Now as i go through the gears this becomes less of a problem because the PRM's are not rising as rapidly.

Absolutely. Just don't shift from 2nd into 1st gear, LOL!

With my car I shift right at 6,000. Everyone says the tach reads slow, and I'm sure it gets worse as mods make the engine rev faster, thus making it harder for the tach to keep up. But in my lid only state that I'm in now I have no problems shifting at 6k according to the tach. And this method propelled my car to a 12 second pass on street tires with a lid only.
